Our History

John A. Downey, Jr. began his metal fabricating career in 1964 when his father opened a metal fabricating company near Atlanta, GA. Growing up working in the shop during days off from school and summer vacation, John started as a helper and as he grew older he began operating and learning shears, press brakes, punch presses, rolls, saws, many forms of welding, layout, design, drafting, blueprint reading and installation techniques.

John left the family business in 1996 after his father’s retirement and founded Downey Metal Products, Inc.
John A Downey provided the same quality products that his father began to teach him 40 years ago to the architectural, commercial and industrial business communities.

In 2013 John A. Downey, revamped the business, currently, Dowmet, LLC© 

Dowmet, LLC provides manufacturing consulting in the supply, fabrication, and painting of Architectural and Ornamental metal components for the construction, display, exhibit, and hospitality industries.

We work closely with architects, contractors, designers, building owners, and engineers to develop distinctive landmark style building features with metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, zinc, titanium, and copper alloy metals such as muntz, brass, and bronze. We provide consulting and assistance to manufacture, crate, and ship your products worldwide.

Areas of specialty include Canopies, Column Covers, Beam Wraps, Hand Rail Systems, Cable Rail Systems, Screen Walls, Sunshades, Cladding,  and Panel Systems.

Providing AutoCAD detailing, design, and engineering services helps the  customer streamline their decorative metal outsourcing requirements to  DOWMET, LLC.
